Have you always wanted to stay at LEGOLAND? {smile!!} Now you can! LEGOLAND California Resort Hotel opened it’s doors last month and I was one of the lucky first guests to experience their whimsical accommodations! This is the perfect staycation for families who want the full LEGOLAND experience. Guests are just steps away from the park gate and they receive early entrance. This is an awesome perk especially on busy days. The brand-spanking-new three-story, 250 room hotel has tons of features that will make your experience a memorable one. We couldn’t help but to smile as we pulled up to the hotel driveway. Guests are greeted by a large smoke-breathing Dragon LEGO model and staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. Guests can either self park or take advantage of valet parking which is free. My daughter wanted to know if the hotel was made of “LEGOS”. The hotel is not made of LEGO blocks but there are over 3500 LEGO models throughout the hotel!
I’ve highlighted six hotel amenities that made our stay fun:
1) THEMES – Each floor of the hotel offers a different theme which guests can choose from: Adventure, Pirate and Kingdom. Families have the additional option of selecting a premium theme or a suite. There are 51 premium rooms (5 occupants) which offer additional LEGO models and decor while the suites offer a pull out couch (7 occupants). Every room has a separate sleep area for the kids equipped with bunk beds, a trundle and TV. We stayed in an Adventure themed room which fun Lego models of spiders, an “Indiana Jones” styled hat, decorative shower curtains and more! My daughter loved her sleep area and she couldn’t get enough of the kid-sized peep hole n the door! The rooms are bright and playful and the queen sized-bed was really comfy.
2) DISCOVERY – Upon registration children are given a scavenger hunt. Kids can look for clues around their room and can find their treasure once they have completed their tasks. The treasure can be found in the room safe. My daughter had a blast running around the room searching for the clues with her friend. Unfortunately, the safe wasn’t locked but the girls still enjoyed finding their prize!
3) FOOD – I was really impressed with the food at Bricks Family Restaurant . The food was excellent. Guests are offered a wide range of buffet options ($23 – $25 for adults and $8.50 – $10 for children, 12 and under) and everything I tried was delicious. I highly recommend going to the smoothie bar at breakfast. Yum! I do wish that they offered an a la carte menu in case a guest wanted a smaller meal. Children helped themselves to the kid-sized buffet which was a big hit for my daughter and her friend. Fun kitchen-themed Lego Models can be found throughout restaurant for kids to marvel over. Kids will enjoy coloring their own table cover as well as take pictures with Lego Characters (I loved getting in a few shots as well!). The Skyline Bar and Patio Lounge is also available if you would like a drink and a snack. Children are allowed in the lounge area. Room service is another option if you’d like to dine in.
4) WATER PLAY – Check out the pool area if you’re looking for a nice spot to relax after a long day of play. The swimming pool is heated and has a gradual incline with a depth of 5 feet. Cabanas are available for rental and on-duty life guards are on site for your safety. Families can also enjoy poolside “Swim Up Movies” on Friday and Saturday nights during peak season. Take a look at the trees! Are they real or are they LEGO?
5) MUSIC Elevator music can be boring, right?? Not this elevator! There’s a disco party on every ride. The doors close and the disco ball spins! Your favorite disco songs plays and every rider dances! Oh, and look out for the whoopee cushion right outside of the elevators on the main floor. I couldn’t pull my daughter away from that one!
6) INTERACTIVE FUN The reception area is really cool. Another dragon awaits you as you enter the lobby. Behind reception is a wall embellished with 6000 Minifigures. There are plenty of LEGO blocks around and you can follow the LEGO River to the Castle Play Zone. Kids can explore the pirate ship; raise pirate ship flag, spin the captain’s wheel and of course build with Legos. The nightly entertainment is also held in this area at 7 every night. Entertainers will hold story time and a dance party!! This is a good time for parents to sit back at Mini’s Lounge and enjoy a drink or a snack while their kids participate in the entertainment.
I feel that the hotel is the perfect size for families with young children. Sometimes large hotels can be daunting and not always so kid-friendly. I felt that LEGOLAND Hotel was contained which made me feel that our kids were safe. Children are encouraged to play and it was nice to see kids discovering and using their imaginations. No need for technology at this hotel. We didn’t even put the tv on in our room.
Hotel rates and packages are now available. Discounts are available for passholders and AAA members. Visit http://california.legoland.
Which theme would you chose? Adventure, Pirate or Kingdom?
