Sunny days sweeping the clouds away… Sesame Street Live is in town with Elmo’s Healthy Heroes and there’s plenty of sunny action and delight in this show. We caught a performance at the Long Beach Terrace Theater last weekend. My daughter loved it! Grover, Elmo, Big Bird and other Sesame Street favorites dance and sing to healthy tunes about things we need to do to stay healthy!
Super Grover loses his “superness” and the Fabulous 5-Elmo, Telly, Zoe, Rock Rock – (Zoe’s Pet Rock) and Abby save the day! Each member of the super hero team takes turn helping out their friends while offering lessons for the young ones in the audience.
My daughter really liked dancing along to the Doin’ the Pigeon act. Now that’s a classic Bert tune! My husband and I were amused by Tully “Triangle Boy” character and who knew that Cookie Monster had breakdance moves? Our favorite part was when the show addressed Cookie Monsters cookie obsession! Kids were encouraged to eat their “colors” and that cookies are a “sometime” treat. This is a message that stuck since my daughter repeated it the next day.
I wasn’t overly impressed with the lead “K”. She had a nice voice but I wish she was a little more upbeat. But the kids were there for Elmo and Sesame Street! That was evident in the sea of Elmo balloons! The children around me were captivated by the show and Teagan was up on her feet dancing and exercising during the Gym act! We’ve been to other Sesame Street Live performances and so far, this is my favorite show. I appreciated the health focus of the show and the characters really got the kids laughing. There’s nothing more infectious than a child’s laughter! The show is definitely geared for younger children but I did see kids of all age there!
