Long car rides with kids can be torture. But with the right preparation I’ve discovered they can be a lot less painful. Lots of snacks, videos for the older kids, and the Disney station on satellite radio work for us. But now we’ve added a newborn to the mix. Enter Disney Baby Einstein!
The Disney Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel Mirror is a great infant toy that provides music, lights, shapes and colors to entertain the baby on the go. The mirror can be used in the car for both rear facing and front facing babies and easily attaches with adjustable straps to the back of the passenger seat in our Chevy Traverse.
It features a large mirror for self-discovery with dancing lights and classic melodies, and lets me set a timer to keep the mirror going without having to climb over the front row seats to repeatedly hit the restart button. The Sun Face button turns the mirror on/off and features a timer which allows you select 10, 20, 30 and 60 minute options.
The mirror has four play modes and thankfully includes volume control (everyone else in the car will thank you):
Mode 1: Learning mode discovers colors and shapes in English, Spanish and French
Mode 2: Lights & Melodies mode
Mode 3: Melodies only – music by Mozart, Beethoven & Vivaldi
Mode 4: Lights only mode
At two months, my son is just beginning to be entertained by toys but the mirror is already engaging him. I’m eager to watch him grow into this toy as he develops and we take some long summer car trips. As babies my two older kids loved mirrors and the ability to hit buttons was endlessly entertaining so I have high hopes for the Baby Einstein Music & Discovery Travel Mirror.
Check it out online at Baby Einstein or buy it at Target or Toys R Us for $30.99.
