Although city life tends to stress many, as a native New Yorker I can verify that there are places to get your Zen on. To all the moms out there, take a little time to spoil yourself, do more of what you love and seek a place that let’s you unwind and truly see all the beauty in your life.
Central Park Conservatory Garden: One of my favorite parts of the park to relax. The flowers are in full bloom this month. According to the official Park website, the Conservatory Garden is divided into three smaller gardens, each with a distinct style: Italian, French and English. The Garden’s main entrance is through the Vanderbilt Gate, on Fifth Avenue between 104th and 105th Streets. This magnificent iron gate, made in Paris in 1894, originally stood before the Vanderbilt mansion at Fifth Avenue and 58th Street. Designation as an official quiet zone, this is the perfect place to read, listen to music and do some people watching.
The Institute of Culinary Education: I love taking classes at this amazing culinary mecca. Classes here let me escape into the amazing smells and textures of delicious fresh food, and the best part is someone else does all the clean up. You get to be a chef with top-of-the-line kitchen equipment and ingredients, and kitchen assistants come in to whisk away all the dirty dishes. The instructors’ enthusiasm is contagious. Some classes I’ve taken include scone and muffin baking, risottos, and healthy cooking. Check out their latest class schedule, but sign up early because popular classes fill up fast.
Escape to a Spa: Two of my favorite spas in the city for massages and skin treatments are Bliss or Edamame.

Wow the Central Park Conservatory Garden looks beautiful! I live in KC, but I’m adding this to my list of places to see.
That park is something to dream about! I wish we had something like this in my city…
