This year I’ll be making Izzy’s Halloween costume. I need your help to figure out where I need to start from. My first step is to pick out a character that my little girl would like to dress up as. Let’s keep in mind that I am on a budget and will use whatever materials or items that I already have available.
Here are my choices of costumes, but feel free to add a character/costume that might be of interest:
- Lilo from “Lilo & Stitch”
- Red M&M
- Disney Fairies (Tinker Bell, Fawn, Silvermist, Iridessa & Rosetta)
I’ve chosen these because they seem easy enough to duplicate on my own. Did I mention I have no previous sewing experience, but don’t worry, my mom is pretty handy with her sewing machine and with her help I’m sure this costume will be a hit.
Please leave me and the readers your tips & tricks to making one’s own successful handmade costume – from picking the right costume for your little one to using the right tools to create it. With your help, I’ll do my best to bring this costume to life. I’ll keep you posted with my progress and will show my final result.
Wish me luck!

This sounds like a great idea. So, if you see me with 3 baggies of cotton balls….well, that’ll be me trying to make her costume.
I wish you luck! I want to see the final result. Maybe one day I’ll be adventurous and try and make a costume too 😉 My favorite from your list would be the Red M&M, that’s cute!!
