The L.A. Zoo is hosting a fantastical night on Saturday, December 31 from 6 to 10 pm! This is the perfect New Year’s Eve event for families as the Zoo’s New Year countdown starts with a 9pm ball drop! I don’t know about you, but I can hardly stay up past 10pm these days, so this sounds like my kind of party!
Access to this special party includes “Skip the Line” access to the Zoo’s L.A. Zoo Lights! Seeing the L.A. Zoo after hours is a unique adventure especially during the holidays. The zoo transforms into a dazzling wonderland, impressing guests with their bright light display, L.A. Zoo Lights which happens now through January 8, 2017.
During the NYE celebration a dinner buffet and soft drinks are included. Also, a complimentary glass of Champagne will be provided to adults during a live broadcast of New York’s Times Square ball drop. Kids can sip on a sparking apple cider! Other activities included are carousel rides, taking in the L. A. Zoo lights, a DJ party, games and more!
L.A. Zoo Lights has turned into a family tradition for us as we take a relaxing stroll through the zoo, sipping hot chocolate with our family and friends. My daughter and her friends love the Zoo this time of year!
My favorite area of the light display is located at the farthest end of the Zoo where a cascading display of lights leads you to an homage to LA and features displays from the Griffith Park Holiday Light Festival. This is the perfect spot for a photo opp!
I also love the beautiful water show that takes place outside of the LAIR (Living Amphibians, Invertebrates, and Reptiles). Cool holiday projections and music will impress guests of all ages! New this year is a shadow puppet area. Also, become a part of the display at the lit up green walkway at the entrance.
Bring your camera to capture stunning moments, arrive early to avoid lines (purchase tickets online), dress warm and enjoy the holidays at L.A. Zoo lights through January 8th.
Just a heads-up – the animals are not out for the NYE celebration or L.A. Zoo Lights. The only animals you will get a chance to see are the real reindeer who have landed for Christmas. The only other “animals” on display are the bright, animated ones found throughout the zoo.
FAMILY NEW YEAR’S EVE tickets are $69 for adults and $45 for children ages 2 to 12, or $64 (adults) and $40 (children) for GLAZA members. All L.A. Zoo Lights events and evenings take place on a “rain-or-shine” basis, with no rain checks issued. Visit LAZoolights.org for details and to purchase tickets.
Tickets to LA Zoo lights (without the NYE package) are also available for this evening.
CONGRATS TO THE L.A. ZOO on their 50th anniversary!
