Like many, Disney is a household brand for my family. Disney World was our yearly family vacation when I lived on the East Coast. I’m now on the West Coast and live within 25 miles of Disneyland. My blog has given me the chance to experience Disney’s magic and it has been a dream come true! Through That’s IT Mommy I’ve attended movie junkets, interviewed Disney stars, attended behind the scenes events as well as gotten first hand reviews on new Disney products. Yes, I consider myself lucky.
I recently attended Disney on The Road in Berkeley, CA. The conference was held at the fabulous yet eerie Claremont Hotel. Not only did conference attendees learn about the happenings at both theme parks but we also participated in panels with amazing “mompreneurs”. The conference was extremely inspiring and heartfelt. I even teared up during Mindee Doney (creator of Boogie Wipes) speech! Yes, leave it to Disney to make me cry.
Here are a few highlights from the conference:
Maria Bailey of Mom Talk Radio started off the conference. She is the woman behind Disney Social Media Moms and I was so excited to meet her! She graciously talked about her family life and you could tell that her family is her #1 priority.
Disneyland has new entertainment such as Fantasy Faire. Step into a storybook musical with Rapunzel and Belle. After the show guests can meet Disney Princesses as they make their way through Royal Hall. The stage show ‘Mickey and the Magical Map‘ will please fans as Mickey takes you through a wonderful theatrical experience with color, wizards and classic Disney tunes!
California Adventure has been hopping since the opening of Cars Land! Make sure you get your fast passes for Radiator Springs Racers as this ride is by far the most popular ride in the park!
Walt Disney World‘s new Fantasyland celebrates it’s first summer season! I can’t wait to take my daughter to visit the scenes from Beauty and the Beast.

Keynote speaker:
Mindee Doney was the keynote speaker and co-creator of Boogie Wipes. She talked openly about her ups and downs during the founding and development of Boogie Wipes. I appreciated her honestly about her struggles with the business that she helped create as well as tolls that it took on her personal life.
Mindee encourages us all to Embrace us and what we do, Empower yourself and others and to Expect our journey to be happily ever after. Words to live by!
Momprenuers from the Huggies MomInspired grant program:
Huggies Mom Inspired is a grant program that awards moms up to $15,000 to further the development of their inventions! All of the recipients have created innovative products to help make parents life easier. The following women were winners from the Huggies MomInspired grant programs. All three talked about their products, the process of creating a brand and how they balance their success and goals with family life:
- Erin Kelly creator of the Hulabye Baby Change
- Alma Moussa creator of Babee Covee
- Romy Taormina creator of PSI Bands
Make sure to visit their sites to learn about their inventions.
Content Tips for Media outlets:
We also heard from Michelle Stepney, Disney Parks Global Content Director. Michelle shared tips with writers on how to improve their interviewing skills as well as when being interviewed. Remember that nothing is “ever off the record”. She also had pointers on getting your message across.
We attended Disney on the Road which is a free conference. No form of compensation was given. This post is in our words and is our opinion.

Disney really puts on the best events ever!
Looks like a wonderful time! Disney sure seems to love bloggers. Someday I would love to be able to visit all the Disney parks. I’ve been to the Magic Kingdom twice in my life but none of the others. I would love to check out Epcot.
