Kodak had some really great range of products on display at the 2019 CES. We got to take a hands on look at these new products, from cameras to digital film scanners and even an augmented reality app.
First up is the Kodak Smile line of cameras. The Smile Classic Instant Print Camera has a bit of a retro look and feel to it. It has a single viewfinder and 10-second timer. There is a MicroSD slot to save your photos to and you can print photos from your smartphone via Bluetooth. Uses Zink Photo Paper with adhesive backing.
The Kodak Smile Instant Print Camera has a simple style, yet modern design. This camera has an LCD digital viewfinder and 10-second timer. Lens and control buttons are revealed once you slide the covering over. You can save your photos to a MicroSD card and print using Zink Zero Ink Paper.
The Kodak Smile Instant Digital Printer is compact with a look similar to the Smile Instant Print Camera. The top pops open at an angle and lights up from the printer opening.
Kodak’s Augmented Reality app adds a new dimension to your photos. Use the app to add a short film clip to your photo when holding your smartphone over the photo. This feature can only be used when using Zink photo paper technology.
Kodak has a few digital film scanners that can turn your negatives into digital photos. The Kodak Scanza Digital Film Scanner and the smaller Kodak Mini Digital Film Scanner can take negatives, slides and film, and turn them into digital JPEG files.
The Kodak Mobile Film Scanner is a very compact and portable scanning unit that works with your smartphone. The stand pops up right out of the box and easy to setup. Scans negatives and slides.
Lastly there are the portable projectors. The Kodak Luma Portable Smart Projector comes in three different models: 75, 150 and 350. The 75 is the smallest at 75-lumen and 5 ounces. The 150 in the middle at 150-lumen. The 350 is the projector with the most features at 350-lumen, access to wireless networks and the ability to work with apps such as NETFLIX, HBO GO and HULU.
I can see so many different ways that the AR app can be used, like in scrapbooking and photo albums. But the Luma 350 is looking to be one of my favorite new products just because it is so compact and can access streaming apps for movies and shows.
These products should be coming out around the beginning of Q2.
