Hi! My name is Vanessa and I have the best job in the world, I’m a full time mommy! Nap time is my time, and during my time I like to get crafty! – Vanessa
In honor of April being Green Month, I would like to introduce you to Vanessa Painter. Vanessa has a blog called Sew Unique in CO. I might be a little biased in saying this because she is my Sister-In-Law, but Vanessa is pretty awesome! She is creative, crafty, inspirational, kind, and one of the best Mommy’s I know!
When I think of eco-friendly products, Vanessa comes to mind. She comes up with some beautiful and unique up cycled outfits and reusable household items.
One of the Christmas gifts she made me was a reusable wet bag! I LOVE IT! She fused some plastic grocery bags together for the liner and used a beautiful print fabric for the outside. We use this bag for wet swim suits. I love how it is so much cuter than the plastic grocery bag I was using! I feel more stylish and love how it is handmade!
Another eco-friendly product Vanessa makes is a lined trash bag. The lining is made from plastic grocery bags, then she sews beautiful fabric to it! You can purchase a custom made lined trash bag through her Etsy Shop with choice of fabrics. They make great gifts, too!
Vanessa creates so many cute outfits for her daughter! One of the cutest sewing projects that she recently created was a romper from a men’s button shirt! You can read all about it on her Sew Unique in CO blog.
Here is my adorable niece modeling another romper Vanessa made! She is so cute and stylish at such a young age!
Can you believe that Vanessa made her daughter a ruffled skirt from a bed skirt and an old pair of jeans?! Can you say ADORABLE?! Vanessa put together a tutorial showing us how she made this ruffled skirt!
I asked Vanessa if she had any eco-friendly tips for our readers. Vanessa said, “If you sew, fabric is everywhere – old jeans, bed skirts, curtains, sheets.” By thinking out of the box, Vanessa has created some cute, unique outfits for her daughter!
Check out Vanessa’s blog at www.sewuniqueinco.blogspot.com. She has some great, easy to follow sewing, knitting and crochet tutorials! You might even be inspired to cook something from one of her recipes! Vanessa’s blog is a great place to have a little laugh and see a whole bunch of cuteness!
Vanessa’s etsy shop is also great place for one of a kind, handmade gifts! You are sure to find something unique and adorable there!
