Marvel Studios and Hall H in San Diego Comic on a Saturday have been synomous with big-moment announcement events. While we will share our other thoughts on what Kevin Feige shared, we thought it be best to talk about the newly released “Wakanda Forever” trailer.
The trailer for the highly anticipated sequel doesn’t shy away from addressing the tragic passing of actor Chadwick Boseman, who played Black Panther in the titular film, as well as Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War, and Avengers Endgame. The trailer set against Bob Marley’s “No Woman, No Cry,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “We Going to Be Alright,” opens with these heartfelt shots of T’Challa murals, and his morther (Angela Bassett), his sister Shuri (Letitia Wright,) and Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o” all mourning the loss of their son, brother, friend, and king.
The fact that the songs have themes of mothers losing their child, and that we are going to be alright in spite of the tragedy, hits hard.
And while we have seen how the nation of Wakanda deals with royal and political transitions that stem from the death of a king, we’ve never really seen it on this much of a scale. It’s pretty epic and definitely something that will make you shed a tear or two. As for the rest of the trailer, it seems like it cares less about the action and more about the emotional core. Once again, it prioritizes that human quality over the usual superhero moments.
So it will be interesting to see how “Black Panther: Wakanda Forver” explores those themes and how it intends to keep the “Black Panther” story alive.
After paying tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, director Ryan Coogler introduced the cast of of the highly anticipated sequel, including Tenoch Huerta is confirmed to play as Namor the Sub-mariner.

In Marvel Studios’ “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), M’Baku (Winston Duke), Okoye (Danai Gurira) and the Dora Milaje (including Florence Kasumba), fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) and Everett Ross (Martin Freeman) and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda. Introducing Tenoch Huerta as Namor, king of a hidden undersea nation, the film also stars Dominique Thorne, Michaela Coel, Mabel Cadena and Alex Livanalli.
