Our Thoughts: The DVD contains five episodes. The first three episodes have a soccer theme, which Kieran was excited about since she just started playing. “Roley’s Rovers” emphasizes the importance of everyone working together as team as the Can-Do Crew helps to clean up a soccer field. “Start From Scratch” teaches sequencing of steps to achieve an ultimate goal. “Night Time for Scratch” has a sleep theme storyline, discussing the importance of going to sleep on time–one which I like to review with Kieran! In “Scratch Goes Solo”, Scratch is excited to do his first job all by himself, but gets lonely. He learns to deal with this new feeling with some wise words from his friends. With “Dizzy in Charge”, big sister Dizzy along with Scratch have fun while fixing up and cleaning the yard. However, Dizzy learns that she must balance being a fun big sister with being responsible. Kieran and I like to talk about her role as a big sister, and I’d say this last one was her favorite. The DVD also contains a bonus music video of “Ready, Steady, Build!”

BarneyTM: Songs from the Park DVD plus bonus CD

Our Thoughts: The DVD running time is 45 minutes and features 20 songs with a park and playground theme PLUS a bonus music CD with 5 songs. One of the songs was about sharing, a very important concept for the toddler set. As this was Kieran’s first exposure to Barney, she wasn’t familiar with most of the music, but enjoyed the DVD nonetheless. She is big on singing and dancing, so Barney fits right into her current interests. She especially liked one scene where Barney jumped into a pool and got all the kids wet—hilarious in her eyes.
