Dinner with my boys is the highlight of everyday for me. No matter how good (or bad) of a day I had at work, I always look forward to the comfort of home at the end of each day. Fridays are extra special – we let someone else do the cooking for us. Stonefire Grill in Pasadena (at Hastings Ranch) is one of our favorite places to “come home to”. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Plus, their menu takes me fondly back to our camping trips with rustic items such as barbeque tri-tip, cowboy beans, and peanut coleslaw.
I was excited to sample Stonefire Grill’s new menu items. I love my veggies, so I was eager to try out their new Roasted Cauliflower salad with green onions and tomatoes tossed in a lemon tahini dressing, along with cilantro serrano dressing. The heat from the serrano hit nicely at the back of the tongue without the bite that one usually expects with this type of chile. The salad is served cold so the sweetness of the roasted cauliflower blends nicely with the vinaigrette cooling the palate. By far, this was my favorite of the new items. I can easily see myself eating a big bowl of this fresh salad all summer long.
They also serve a warm Whole Roasted Cauliflower drizzled with lemon tahini, and chopped parsley. Next time I visit with my boys we’ll have to sit by the fire pit that StoneFire Grill has out on the patio, and order this hunk of goodness. It’ll be just like the good old days sitting by the fire after a long hike through the mountains.
Next on the menu tour were their sandwiches: The Caprese, and Traditional turkey with cranberry sauce. Naturally I gravitate towards anything with an olive oil based dressing, such as the pesto sauce lathered on StoneFire Grill’s mouthwatering Caprese sandwich. (((Drool!))) As you may have guessed by now, roasted cauliflower is also present in their sandwich section. These hearty sandwiches are great for dine-in or on the go.
Not to be left behind, the kiddos in your life will enjoy nibbling on mandarin oranges, as well as the carrots and celery with ranch found on the Kid’s Menu (also new). That’s one of the other things that I love about StoneFire Grill – they think of everyone in the family. From the big comfy booths, to the outdoor patio for al fresco dining, to the fresh ingredients they use to create their menu items, StoneFire Grill makes each visit warm and inviting. I can’t wait to return, soon!
Thanks StoneFire Grill for the new menu item sampling!
