I have always loved comic book super heroes and was an obsessive comic book collector for many years. Even though there were hundreds of titles to choose from and posters there was one things that lacked….Super Hero swag. Yes, I had a few pair of Underoos back in the day, but other than Halloween costumes and a random T-shirt, I never got a chance to really celebrate and “wear” my favorite heroes. These days you can find super hero logos on just about anything. But I never thought about headphones!
Revisiting my inner comic book, fan boy geekness, I was very excited to try out and review the Coloud Marvel Captain America Headphone. Now, we’re talking retro headphones, not ear buds. Decked out in a classic Red, White and Blue, the Coloud Captain America headphones are strikingly bold and patriotic. Even though I occasionally wear ear buds, I have always preferred and used headphones with the larger (or largest) ear pads. I’m a musician and the sound quality and comfort of headphones are extremely important. Especially when I have to record a long session. Now, Coloud Captain America headphones looked super cool but I had to take them for a test run.
Right off the bat I put on the headphones and was surprised at how tight they fit. I knew right away that this might become a problem especially with extended wear. However, the tightness did lead some extra noise isolation. The audio chord is partly twisted like a phone cord, a function I love considering how tangled my chords usually get. To get a better sense of what kind of sound the Coloud headphones could handle, I played a variety of music. Everything from bassy electro-house, to classical, some rock and even watched a few TV episodes online. They sounded excellent! Great response no matter what sounds where being pushed through them. But, my concerns about comfort came true. My ears hurt! And not from the volume. After about an hour, the Coloud headphones were definitely too tight and made my ears feel very uncomfortable.
To wrap it up I’d say that although the Coloud Captain America headphones sound good, I could not see myself using them for extended periods of time. I’m not sure if anyone has owned a pair for a long time, so maybe they eventually break in a little. They had an even balance between the bass and treble, kind of right down the middle. Aesthetically, they are absolutely fabulous to look at! Definitely a must if you are a collector. I checked out the other heroic versions like Iron Man, Wolverine and Punisher and Captain America and Punisher’s designs are the best. By the way they also have Hello Kitty and Star Wars. Retailing for around $39.99 I’d say the Coloud line of Marvel headphones would make a very cool gift! Visit www.coloud.com for information or buy at www.amazon.com

I have never been a Captain America fan, but those headphones are awesome!
Are these adjustable so my kids could wear them?
