Thanks to Black Angus Steakhouse in Burbank, CA for hosting us to preview their romantic offerings for February.
Having never been to a Black Angus, my husband and I were looking forward to our a night out to try their dinner options for Valentine’s Day. Black Angus offers a special menu that will run from February 14-17th featuring a Prime Rib and Crab Cake promo at their locations.
We were prepared for a hearty meal with the choice of one appetizer, the option to select either Prime Rib and Crab Cake or selection from their Steak Entrees as well as drinks and a massive, sweet dessert to end your experience. AND, I must add, the freshly baked warm brown bread served with soft butter. DELICIOUS.
For our appetizer, we selected the Spinach and Artichoke Dip. We went nuts for it and it’s definitely our favorite shared starter. The sizzling skillet covered in bread crumbs which gave the dip a tasty crunch was really exciting. We tried not to fill up on the chips since we knew we were in for a fabulous meal but what a challenge when the appetizers and chips are addicting!
Drink choices were wine or a cocktail. We decided to switch things up and ordered their signature Margaritas. I chose the Motherlode Margarita which has a blend of Tres Generaciones Añejo Tequila, fresh citrus, and organic agave topped with a float of Patron Citronage. It was refreshing and notes that weren’t overpoweringly sour- just the right amount of citrus. My husband got the El Dorado which came with a heavy pour of Camarena Reposado Tequila plus fresh citrus topped with a float of Grand Marnier. We both felt the drinks were perfectly balanced and that the orange flavor of the Gran Marnier in his drink hit the spot. We’d definitely order these again, solid mixology for a classic drink.
Our server Clay was extremely helpful with his suggestions. He filled us in on the most popular dishes at Black Angus and walked us through the Valentine’s Day menu. My husband decided on the Rib-Eye with two classic sides (coleslaw and mash). He prefers his steaks medium-well and the rib-eye was cooked perfectly. I went for the Filet Mignon topped with blue cheese and mushrooms with potatoes au gratin and salad as sides. I love my steaks rare and the blend of tender steak and juices with cheese and mushrooms was everything I would want in a steak dinner. I love cheese and was 3 for 3 with the potatoes au gratin which was perfectly cheesy.
We still had dessert to go!
They had me at Big Mountain Chocolate Fudge Cake. This is the perfect cake to indulge on for Valentine’s Dinner. Who knew that this giant slice of warm, chocolate gooey cake topped with ice cream and a little side of hot fudge was everything we needed in our lives. The frosting on it was decadent and delicious, the fudge as melty as can be without being too liquidy and the ice cream was such a perfect touch. Pro-Tip: pour all the fudge on it!
We had an amazing first time dining at Back Angus and can’t wait to go back for our next date night. The meals were satisfying. The service was excellent and the management team came by to check on us and greet us. Black Angus’ homey vibe is perfect for families and couples looking for a reliable go-to for Valentine’s Day. Be sure to book your reservations in advance at your local Black Angus.
