Summer may be over so that means its time for putting pumpkin spice on everything under the sun and Halloween. Universal Pictures has released the newest trailer for “The Exorcist: Believer.” The film is the latest installment of the Exorcist film franchise and follows a similar formula that director David Gordon Green used for his update on the Halloween franchise by bringing back familiar characters to help the new generation navigate the latest horrors.
“The Exorcist: Believer” centers on Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton), a single father who has been raising his daughter on daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own. But when his daughter goes missing, and mysteriously returns three days later with no memory of what happened, Victor witnesses an evil unlike anything he’s ever seen. As such, he seeks out the only person who has ever confronted such an evil, Chris MacNeil.
In the film, Oscar® winner Ellen Burstyn reprises her iconic role as Chris MacNeil, an actress who has been forever altered by what happened to her daughter Regan five decades before.

The film also stars Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, Norbert Leo Butz, Lidya Jewett, Olivia O’Neill.
Green and Peter Sattler co-wrote the script, based on a story by Green, Scott Teems, and Danny McBride. So it should be interesting to see if the formula that worked for the new Halloween trilogy can work for “The Exorcist.”
“The Exorcist: Believer” opens in theaters on October 6, 2023.

Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor Fielding (Tony winner and Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom, Jr.; One Night in Miami, Hamilton) has raised their daughter, Angela (Lidya Jewett, Good Girls) on his own.
But when Angela and her friend Katherine (newcomer Olivia O’Neill), disappear in the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them, it unleashes a chain of events that will force Victor to confront the nadir of evil and, in his terror and desperation, seek out the only person alive who has witnessed anything like it before: Chris MacNeil.
