* Sharon received a code to test out the app free of charge. The review is in our own words and is our opinion.
I don’t know what we would do without our iPad! We have had it since Gavin was about 6 months old and it has been one of the best purchases we have made as parents. I am actually surprised that it is still working with all the daily abuse it has received! Since our iPad is mostly used by the youngest member of our family it is filled with games, educational apps, and movies.
We have all three Toy Story movies on the iPad. Those movies NEVER get old! I can sit and spend a couple of hours watching them with my little guy. Now we can create our own animated stories with the Disney Learning Toy Story: Story Theater app!
The Disney Learning Toy Story: Story Theater app is great for the 3-7 year old age group. The voice prompts help even the youngest storyteller navigate through the app on their own. This app introduces early literacy skills through guided and imaginative play. It is fun AND educational!
The app is very simple to use. There are two options to create a story – Story Play and Free Play.
- Story Play: A guided mode that walks you through the main points of the story. You choose a character, place, action, and a prop. The app will set the story up for you and at the end you have the chance to do a recording to finish the story. These stories are automatically saved.
- Free Play: There are more options for choice of characters, props, scene background and music! You set the story up and record your own story at any time. You have the ability to save the story at the end.
On the home screen there is a parent mode that allows you to turn some options on and off. There is also a helpful guide that offers tips on how to set the stage for learning, creativity and fun with the app AND two offline activities to help reinforce the concepts of story structure!
I am not sure who had more fun playing with Toy Story: Story Theater, me or Gavin! The possibilities are endless!
Toy Story: Story Theater is now available for $2.99 for the iPad and iPhone in the iTunes store.
