LADY AND THE TRAMP DIAMOND EDITION on Blu-ray available now!
I grew up on Lady and the Tramp; it’s always been one of my favorite Disney movies. So when I got word that Disney was releasing a Diamond Edition, I couldn’t wait to share the experience with my girls. Who doesn’t love a classic love story, even if it’s amongst canines? You can’t help but fall in love with Lady’s big doe eyes, her perfect pedigree but also her determined, scrappy nature. Tramp seems an unlikely match, street-wise and mangy as he is. When Tramp gets Lady, who is most loyal to her family, into trouble, he redeems himself by saving the baby in her human family from harm, winning not only Lady’s affections, but those of her humans. And who doesn’t love the classic Italian restaurant scene when Lady and Tramp discover their feelings for each other over a heaping plate of pasta and a bumbling, encouraging chef? The release from the Disney vault was certainly worth the wait for this one!
The beloved classic comes alive with its wonderful animation and unforgettable songs. Putting my youngest to sleep after watching Lady and the Tramp, she asked me to sing “La La Lu” to her, the lullaby Lady’s human mom first sings when we meet the newborn in the family. The high definition sound also made “Strange Visitors” come alive, when we meet the quirky, trouble-seeking Siamese cats owned by Aunt Sarah. Well into my 30s, that infamous duo still makes me laugh with their keenly choreographed moves and sneaky charm. And I can’t help but love Jacques, who so reminds me of a dog that I had growing up. Lady and the Tramp made for a perfect family movie night for my family, snuggled down on the couch together and watching the fun, heart-warming, lovable characters unfold and find adventure.
The 2-Disc combo pack (Blu-ray and DVD) also comes with a myriad of bonus features, such as going inside one of Walt’s Story Meetings, a tribute about remembering her father done by Diane Disney Miller, never-before-seen deleted scenes, trailers and much more. The 2-Disc pack retails for $39.99 and has just become available in stores. Grab your copy now, relive childhood memories and share them with your own children! The only cautionary thing I can say is that they’ll likely want to watch it again and again! – Jessica
