Pumpkin Nights in Pomona offers plenty of surprises for visitors. It is filled with unique and creative pumpkin displays set in fantasy worlds, accompanied by seasonal music and with plenty of opportunities for selfies and photos.
There are seven Pumpkin Lands, one called the Great Hall with floating pumpkins and a magical soundtrack with a friendly owl at the end. Another is called the Forbidden City, complete with a pumpkin dragon for photos and a pond filled with pumpkins carved in the shape of turtles.
Upon exiting the Forbidden City, visitors pass a table of pumpkin carvers. They invite all to see how they create some of jack o’ lanterns in the different pumpkin lands. “A Nightmare Before Christmas” plays on a loop in a little theater outside the Forbidden City, before visitors enter the Pumpkin Reef and Pirates Cove. In Pirates Cove, there is a place to dig for buried treasure and a chest filled with golden trinkets, guarded by pumpkin pirates.
In Maravilla Lane, visitors are greeted by pumpkin sugar skulls and experience a Dia de los Muertos celebration complete with music and dancing.
The Monster Mash area has see saws and hula hoops for kids to play with. The Enchanted Forest area has tiny pumpkin villages for gnomes and a wishing well.
Bring comfortable shoes. The Pumpkin Lands cover a lot of territory. It is geared for children and it is encouraged for visitors to wear costumes. It also a great place for selfies and photos. The pumpkin scenes offer great backgrounds for perfect pumpkin pictures.
Food, from tacos to pizza and other fair delicacies, is available at Pumpkin Nights. Desserts are in abundance as well, cookies, brownies, donuts and of course funnel cakes. Alcohol is also available, making it a great opportunity for a date night.
Pumpkin Nights runs through Nov. 3 from 5:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Fairplex in Pomona. General admission tickets are $20. Tickets for seniors 60 years and older are $18. Children tickets, ages 4 to 12 are $16. Children 3 and under are free. Family tickets packs are available for $65. Parking is $12. Food is available on site.
