The I.T. girls took another adventure out in the city of Montrose – just a few miles north of Glendale heading on the 2 Freeway. We met up early right in front of Jane’s Cakes & Chocolates for a fun, cupcake filled morning.
Jane’s Cakes & Chocolates, located at 2331 Honolulu Ave. Ste C in Montrose, 91020, is such a charming place to take in the local air, the people and their delectable creations. They not only have a variety of cupcakes but also an assortment of cookies AND….they are also a supply store for those bakers that are either beginners or experts at their craft – “The craft of baking”.
Cecy immediately ran to the counter and picked out their last red velvet cake of the day and it was only 11:30 in the morning. You can say that their red velvet cakes are their most popular flavor amongst many other yummy cupcakes. Tee went with the Reese’s Peanut Butter cupcake but decided to bring that one home for Sean to enjoy. She’s such an awesome wife. The girls went with the most prettiest or most visually appealing looking cake their was. Teagan and Izzy went with your traditional vanilla & chocolate cupcakes. YUMMY! The girls give this shop their “THATSIT” seal of approval.
After our sugar intake for breakfast, we noticed Montrose’s Farmers Market located on Verdugo held every Sunday from 9am-1pm. Unlike the Hollywood’s Farmer’s Market, here you’re able go at your own speed and enjoy some people watching without having everyone bump into you. We went up and down the street trying out everyone’s strawberry, orange & apple stands. Wow, even for the fruit not being in season, it was all just so yummy. From the corner of our eye we saw and immediately ran to The Paper Rabbit Montrose, a store that specializes in scrapbooking products, personalized invitations and beautiful gifts. They also carry a variety of X-mas ornaments, stickers, rubber stamps and much much more. The I.T. girls were truly captivated by all the colors, glitters and stickers. The mommies couldn’t leave the store without splurging a little on our girls. So we decided to get them a variety of stickers that were mounted on the wall – from different colors and sizes of stars to flowers and critters of all kinds. One was able to pick a small square of stickers and mix-n-match to their heart’s content. And that’s exactly what we did. Oh, and we couldn’t leave the store without buying them a X-mas ornament. And so, they chose a mini cupcake ornament the girls both loved and we took home. What a great find this little place is. One can truly shop in here for hours and not get bored.
After our detour at The Paper Rabbit, the girls got distracted by Toms Toy Store just a few doors over from the craft store. The girls were mesmerized by all the classic and vintage toys that were displayed in their windows. We had to cut our trip short at this point because we figured that walking into this store would throw off the girls’ nap time by spending another 1 hour or so just “looking around”. And as many of you moms know…one never throws off the kids’ nap time or else.
Did you and your kids go on a last minute adventure and discover a new city, store or friend? If so, leave us a comment and let us know your story. We can’t wait to hear it.
Happy Holidays from the I.T. Family.
