Hickory Farms Gift Crates
For over 60 years, Hickory Farms has been offering food gifts to share with your friends and family over the holiday season. Founded in 1951 in Ohio, the company began selling its hand cut cheeses at local home shows.
Today in this foodie-loving world, you can still have a beautiful gift of gourmet foods sent easily and afford-ably through Hickory Farms.
We just received the Simply Savory Deluxe Gift Crate at our house. Delivered to our doorstep, the box was the perfect surprise for a school day afternoon. My children and I loved tearing open the box to find the wooden crate filled with the delicious makings for a cold day treat.
Hickory Farms’ Newest Simply Savory offerings is a line of gifts that don’t include artificial ingredients, preservatives, nitrates or MSG. Within the crate we found two beef sausages, a piece of creamy Gouda cheese, a wedge of medium Cheddar cheese, a small box of flat bread crackers, a bag of mixed nuts, a jar of hot pepper bacon jam and a jar of smoky onion mustard.
The kids went for the crunchy items, mainly the crackers and nuts. My favorite flavor combination was the Gouda cheese on a flat bread cracker with a smear of hot pepper bacon jam. Yum, I was in that delicious savory zone!
I was super excited to try to hot pepper bacon jam. While I liked the hot pepper jam I did taste the hot pepper but then only smoke flavor, no bacon. I was a little bummed, and it may disappoint a true bacon aficionado on your gift list.
What I loved was the ease of being able to order this gift online. At a price point of $75 for the Simply Savory Deluxe Gift Crate (currently on sale for $56.25), this gift delivers. I would be hard pressed to shop for a basket of items, arrange them as beautifully and then have it shipped safely and timely to it’s destination.
For many, including me, the Hickory Farms name is nostalgic. Seeing it’s logo and the cheese and sausages brings back good childhood memories of seeing the pop-up shop stands at my local shopping area during Christmastime.
Check out their website this holiday season to make your shopping less stressful and your gift recipients very happy! In addition to sausages and cheeses, their huge selection also includes wine, chocolate, fruits, hams, steaks and even gluten-free offerings.
Coincidentally, the day I was writing this post. A neighbor dropped off a chocolate, caramel wrapped apple from a gift crate they just received from Hickory Farms. It was so delicious that I kept it hidden until the kids were off to bed. It was too good to have to share. The combination of crunchy apple, soft sweet caramel layer and hard dark chocolate outside shell was amazing. I highly recommend but either order a bunch, or plan on hiding them from the rest of your family!
