Unless you are well-versed in the Marvel Universe, you will definitely want to see this movie again! In fact, even if you are scholarly in the Marvel world, you’ll want to see “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The intense action sequences and fascinating special effects are mesmerizing. Plus, you’ll find a storyline that really dives into the changes and growth of our hero. Steve Rogers (aka Captain America) struggles to fit in a society and an era very different from where he originates.
”Captain America: The Winter Soldier” takes place two years following the alien invasion and events portrayed in Marvel’s “The Avengers.” Chris Evans (The Avengers, The Fantastic Four franchise) reprises the role of Captain America, who has moved on from the US Army and is now an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. Captain America struggles with an inner conflict regarding his new employment with a spy agency, along with adjusting to a modern world albeit technologically advanced world. But, when danger befalls a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D. agent and friend, our super-soldier leaps into action, and into our hearts. You’ll discover that he’s one of the best superheroes adapted from a comic book.
However, the film’s not focused entirely on Captain America. Also returning is Scarlett Johansson as the Black Window and Samuel L. Jackson, our fearless S.H.I.E.L.D. leader. Throw in the daring Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) and a new superhero, The Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and be ready for some thrilling, action packed adventures from these superhero icons.
There’s conspiracy, comedy and well-crafted fight scenes. One even features a real-life UFC champion (George St. Pierre as Batroc a French mercenary). As fantastical as the story and action play out, “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” attempts, it’s best to keep a “real-world” element to it’s adventurous storyline.
”Captain America: The Winter Soldier” is unlike any other superhero movie out there. From the camera angles, story arcs, technological advances and insight of new directors Anthony and Joe Russo, this movie is the most effective and compelling to date. As always, sit through the credits, because there’s more in store – it’s never completely over!
