We attended opening night of Ringley Bros. and Barnum & Bailey’s Funundrum at the Staples Center. This was my daughter’s first visit the circus. All aspects of the show fascinated her. She applauded and cheered along with the captivated audience. I haven’t been to the Ringley Brother’s Circus since I was a little kid. My favorite memories are of the trapeze artists and souvenirs! Funundrum was a totally different experience. The production was amazing! Exciting visual effects as well as amazing costuming and perfectly timed routines and set changes. The Ringmaster had a booming voice and infused an exciting flavor through singing and announcing!
I don’t particularly care for the animal segments. I prefer acts where the talent is what people can do with their bodies! I was totally impressed by the Body Benders. Can you imagine three women stuffed into a glass chest? But my favorite and my husband’s was the Globe of Steel portion. Talk about The Greatest Show on Earth!! I was on the edge of my seat when seven motorcyclists entered the globe. The motorcycle group is from the same family and they had audience members on the edge of their seats shrieking!! I also liked how they used black lights in the beginning of their segment. No detail was over looked!
My husband appreciated the live band! The lead trumpet player directed it. The soundtrack they created was appropriate especially when creating sense of suspense. There were some incredibly impressive musicians highlighted throughout the show. The bass player was a total madman on his instrument! And we also got a big kick out of the clown in a car routine with each clown representing an outrageous superhero. “Iron Man” with an ironing board built in and the Flash drinking a giant can of Red Bull. Teagan LOVED every minute of it.
The tour is no longer in LA but you can still catch them at the Honda Center in Anaheim. After that the tour moves on to No. California, Colorado, Missouri and Indiana. Find out about tickets at ticketmaster.com.

I’ve never been to the circus and this sounds great. I definitely would have been on the edge of my seat during the Globe of Steel, too! I didn’t know they had a live band…that’s such a bonus!
Very Cool!! I am going to check and see when the circus is coming to Boston. It sounds like fun for the whole family!
If you can ever take your kids to that circus when it features Bello, then do. He’s not only the greatest clown, but the most talented acrobat. He’s so totally engaging with children and adults alike. We had an awesome blast. I do like the animal acts too and our family really enjoyed them. Except they did have one scary problem with a young tiger getting really annoyed with the trainer, and so they had him removed by another trainer from the demonstration so he could calm down and no one and no other tiger would be injured. I’m glad they did that, and they explained why they were taking him out of the arena.
We also attended the opening night, Me my husband and our two kids Gavin 4, and Reese 14 months. I hadn’t been to the circus since I was close to my son’s age and was actually very excited. I really enjoyed the show & loved how face paced it was and how every moment there was something exciting happening. We all loved the body benders and the 7 motorcycles in the globe of steel…very exciting! I was worried that my daughter would not enjoy the show because she is too young but she suprised my husband and I by dancing and clapping excitedly the whole time! Overall we found it a very entertaining and exciting show and would definitely go next time they are in town!
My husband & I hadn’t been to a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus since we were kids. We weren’t sure what to expect and if it would match our memories from years ago at Madison Square Garden. What a great time we had taking our daughter and she absolutely loved it! I loved the Globe of Steel!
We will definitely go next year!
