Sony Pictures has released the newest trailer for “Paddington in Peru.” The polite bear who spread kindness in his first two adventures in the big city on the big screen is finally heading home to be reunited with his Aunt Lucy.
The only problem is that Aunt Lucy has gone missing. So, our brave bear recruits his adoptive family to join him in searching for her in a dangerous and uncharted jungle. The odds may be against them, but a determined Paddington won’t give up and embraces his wild side to find his immediate auntie.
As they embark on this quest, they encounter rough jungle rivers, slithering animals, and a treacherous adventurer who takes advantage of Paddington’s naivety. Of course, the endearing bear won’t take that hustle lying down.
The trailer teases Paddington’s latest adventure outside the pond and finds him preparing for his travels while getting audiences reacquainted with him, his past, and his family. There are some hilarious moments, including Paddington having trouble taking a passport photo and learning how to use a life jacket in an emergency. We are even reminded about the power of a “Hard Stare.”
Ben Whishaw is back voicing Paddington Bear. He is joined by Hugh Bonneville, Emily Mortimer, Madeleine Harris, and Samuel Joslin, all of whom reprise their role as members of the Brown family. Imelda Staunton returns to voice Aunt Lucy. And they are all joined by Olivia Coleman and Antonio Banderas, both of whom are new to the franchise.
Dougal Wilson directs the trilogy capper and replaces Paul King, who couldn’t helm the film because he was directing Wonka. The script was written by Mark Burton, Jon Foster, and James Lamont from a story by Paul King, Simon Farnaby, and Burton.
Paddington in Peru hits theaters on January 17, 2024.
