Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment spreads holiday cheer by releasing one of the biggest live-action comedies of all time in a 5-film box set on Blu-ray and DVD, Home Alone: Ultimate Collector’s Edition, featuring Home Alone; Home Alone 2: Lost in New York; Home Alone 3; Home Alone: Taking Back the House; and Home Alone: The Holiday Heist. Packed in its own collectible paint can, this gift set also includes Kevin’s Battle Plan, a collectible ornament, fake spider and wanted poster.
How can we ever forget Macaulay Culkin as the adorable Kevin McCallister in Home Alone? Macaulay plays witty 8 year-old Kevin, who’s accidentally left “home alone”C to fend off clumsy robbers, while his family goes on Christmas vacation. In this hilarious family comedy, Kevin devises an outrageous plan to defend his home, incorporating nifty booby traps and techno-gadgets. With Joe Pesci (Harry Lime) and Daniel Stern (Marv Merchants) as the two blundering “Wet Bandits,” there’s one laugh after another.
In Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, the “Wet Bandits” are at it again. With a new name “Sticky Bandits,” and new territory, New York, these conmen are hoping their luck gets better as they set their sights on burglarizing the townhouse of Kevin’s uncle in the Big Apple. Expect plenty of shenanigans in the second, returning the original cast stars, Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern. Home Alone is a side-splitting, warm-and-fuzzy comedy. Target will also offer limited edition Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York gift sets, featuring both films on Blu-ray, along with a nostalgic wearable reproduction of Kevin’s winter knit hat.
Home Alone 3 is the third installment, featuring Alex D. Linz as Alex Pruitt who’s left alone because he has chicken pox. He’s in prize possession of a $10 million cloaking computer chip that’s mistakenly stashed inside his remote control car. Unfortunately, a small group of international thieves are scouring his neighborhood for the chip until they discover Alex has the car. Tech-savvy Alex creates a web of wondrous gadgets to catch the villains in action.
Home Alone: Taking Back the House reboots the original characters played by new actors such as Mike Weinberg (Kevin McCallister), French Stewart (Marv), Missi Pyle (Vera), and adds Natalie’s butler, Mr. Prescott (Eric Avari), as well as, Barbara Babcock (Molly). In this installment Kevin sets up traps throughout the house in hopes of catching the bandit of thieves before they can kidnap the visiting royal family. Home Alone: The Holiday Heist is the fifth and final installment of the franchise. This film follows Christian Martyn (Finn Baxter) and his nanotech-savvy sister (Jodell Ferland) Alexis Baxter as they settle into Maine from California. At the same time, a group of nefarious bandits are plotting to steal a valuable painting from the home.
The entire set is a treasure trove of laughs and wonderful gift for any film collection. I loved these movies as a young adult, and enjoy them even more with my children now!
