If you love good children’s book illustrations as much as I do, then you need to check out eeBoo and it’s newest product offerings online.
eeBoo is a boutique toy company that sells its products mainly in specialty toy, gift, art and museum stores. eeBoo creates toys and gifts that are 100% original (no licenses) and they commission artwork from well-known children’s book illustrators.
One of the first gifts I bought during my first pregnancy was a set of eeBoo flash cards to decorate my baby’s nursery. Their products are not just for newborns, eeBoo just shared with me some really cool flashcards that my children are having a blast with this summer!
I introduced these Good Manners Flash Cards to my kids at the breakfast table and they quickly became competitive in their attempts to get the correct answers. We did come upon a couple that were written a bit too open ended, i.e. what do you do when you come upon a door? My daughter guessed “knock on it,” but it was supposed to lead the child to “offering to open the door for others.” Overall they were age appropriate, the graphics were funny and as a mom it was nice to be able to discuss good behaviors and manners without sounding preachy.
I originally thought these would be appealing to my 5 year old son, but they have been taken over by my 7 year old daughter and 8 year old niece. The Tell Me A Story cards have no words, just cool artwork featuring characters, settings, actions and items that let kids make up their own stories. The girls are addicted! They sit across from each other with the stack of cards in the middle and take turns flipping the card and telling their portion of the story. They’ve created their own games – speed round, particular character names, etc. It’s so cool seeing them use their imaginations and move away from screen time without even being asked by me.
These nature and earth science flash cards are chocked full of facts. My soon-to-be first grade boy loves this type of information. Together we take quiet moments to read and discuss 2-3 cards at a time. It’s a great opportunity to learn together and gives us fodder for conversations throughout the day. Although my little guy doesn’t truly understand dimensions yet he loves trying to memorize the size and weight facts.
I would highly recommend all three of these products. Priced very reasonably at $7-$12, these cards would make perfect birthday presents or convenient-to-pack games for long car rides or airplane trips.
eeBoo also makes greeting cards, board games, crafting kits, puzzles and paper dolls. You can view or purchase products at their website www.eeboo.com
