South Florida is home to so many salons and spas, that sometimes it’s hard to find the right fit! I was fortunate to recently spend the morning with the one and only Alexander of Alexander’s G’Day Spa and Salon. Not only did I walk out with an absolutely amazing new hair style, I was inspired to do more for my community!

I’m a pretty low maintenance person when it comes to my appearance, so it was nice to be pampered by someone who loves truly loves his craft. One thing that Alexander stressed was the importance of “me time,” which, with two teenagers, isn’t always that easy. While they’re definitely less demanding in many ways, he was right! A trip to the salon was a perfect way to get me back into the “it’s not just about them” mode. Although my days of massages, manicures and regularly scheduled haircuts may be a thing of the past, this trip reminded me that it’s okay to splurge on myself once in a while. And it also reminded me that I have a lot to be thankful for.
Alexander’s career has taken him from Australia to NYC, from London to Miami, and finally, to Fort Lauderdale, and we’re lucky to have him, and his magical scissors in our neighborhood! He’s a true gentleman, as well as a philanthropist supporting many local and national organizations. He has biked more than 3,500 miles along the East Coast, from Key West to Maine, supporting the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation. Alexander has worked with Pace Center for Girls, providing at-risk teens with a fantastic day of make-overs and positive motivation in being successful members of their communities. He also volunteered with Women in Distress to bring awareness to domestic violence. He continues to gain support and has raised more than $20,000 for the organizations he supports. Alexander is an educator and renowned motivational speaker for women of an array of backgrounds and audiences, encouraging and inspiring them to be the best versions of themselves mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
