Last week, my children and I got the opportunity to spend an afternoon in the park with the creator of Zylie the Bear and counselors from Oasis Day Camp. We had a true teddy bear picnic in Central Park where we heard stories, played games and met our new teddy bear companions. It was a truly priceless day that my kids have not stopped talking about.
The mom/creator of Zylie explained to us that her daughter inspired the cuddly tan teddy bear. American Girl dolls and their extensive wardrobes were the rage but her little girl was more interested in dressing up her teddy bear, so Mary Beth created a teddy bear that had less of a rounded bear belly and moveable arms and legs so that clothing would fit better.
Each teddy bear comes with storybook and passport for worldly adventures. Zylie’s friend, Shen the Panda bear, hails from China and sports a cool leather-style coat and carries his drumsticks right next to his passport in his cool red backpack.
My kids loved the storybook where their new bear friends were the stars. We spent the entire day in the Park introducing the bears to all the sights. My 4 and 5 years olds also asked me about their own passports and travels. “When can we go to China?” and “can I bring Shen and get his passport stamped on our next trip?” Not sure how much of a sense of playfulness Custom agents are feeling these days, but sure we can give it a shot.
Both Zylie the Bear and Shen the Panda kits can be purchased for $49.99 each on http://www.zyliethebear.com/ and it includes the 18″ jointed bear with fashionable clothes, accessories and an adventure book.
