Thanks to Melissa’s Produce I experienced the Pinkglow Pineapple. Grown in Costa Rica, this piece of tropical heaven is available for a limited time. Although pricey, I recommend splurging on this beautiful and delectable fruit! They are available exclusively online. Currently Melissa’s Produce carries them for $29 and Melissa’s Produce are one of two produce companies offering these pink gems!
What does it taste like? I immediately connected it to a pink starburst candy, less acidity, extra juicy and extra zing! Pinkglow Pineapples are deceiving because the inside look reminds you of grapefruit and you immediately expect tartness and bitterness. But be ready for the absolute complete opposite! In fact, it’s a ‘dangerous’ taste because the fruit has the consistency of a pineapple but it melts in your mouth and you want to devour the whole thing! Then you remember the price the price tag!! So, I recommend savoring each bite. I actually froze some to include in an ice cold whip. I’ll let you know how that turns out! I imagine wickedly satisfying!
I learned that it took Del Monte 16 years to create these beauties and they are the only company to grow them. My taste buds are still exploding and it’s amazing that after all these years on this planet I can still taste something that is so unique and fabulous!
