Investigating the Secret Compartment

Our dad friends at Geared for Imagination, the creators of the wooden Topozoo Dinosaurs, were excited to share with us another green toy for our “good for the earth” toy theme this month.

Designed and manufactured in Montreal Canada, the Toy Toy chair is a toddler-sized environmentally-friendly chair from 100 percent recycled cardboard. It’s an affordable, lightweight chair with a high back and secret storage compartment underneath.

Each chair is made from a sheet of recycled cardboard which is pre-cut and printed with colorful graphics. The chair is delivered flat which reduces assembly and transport costs. A printed user guide gives all the instructions from tearing the product out the cardboard sheet to the final assembling. A one piece conception ensures the buyer can easily assemble the furniture, without the need to cut or glue. And the manufacturers say the chair is waterproof due to a special coating applied to the cardboard.

Our Thoughts:

One evening it took me about 20 minutes to open, read the instructions and assemble our Toy Toy chair.  The next morning, my two year old son was very excited to have his very own seat to eat breakfast and watch cartoons.  When he sits in the chair as instructed it works perfectly. But his inquisitive side gets the best of him and he needs to examine it from all angles and then tried to sit on it upside down or on its sides. I’m not sure how long it will last with this sort of testing but for now it looks great, is super easy to move around and fits well pulled up to our art table. The storage compartment is not large, but easily fits small treasures, such as Matchbox cars or Lego pieces.
